Hamas have released footage that appears to show their forces using a drone to drop explosive shells on Israeli infantry and a tank.

Small civilian drones armed with grenades and shells have been widely used by Ukrainian forces in their war against Russia. Now it seems the same tactics are being deployed on the frontlines of the war in Gaza.

In a filmed address on Wednesday, Hamas’ leader said Israel had a ‘fascist’ government, and that it would suffer a ‘great defeat’.

Both Hamas and Israel seem to be indicating that they are entering a new more intense phase of the war. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claim they are now ‘at the gates’ of Gaza City.

The threat of urban warfare will only add to concerns for civilians in Gaza, already beleaguered by airstrikes. On Wednesday the World Health Organisation (WHO) called for ‘urgent access’ to Gaza for more humanitarian aid. While some humanitarian aid has now entered Gaza through Egypt, the WHO said they were ‘merely a drop in the ocean of needs’.
