“Days following his vote against a House bill to protect same-sex marriage, Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., attended his gay son’s wedding.

“Congressman and Mrs. Thompson were thrilled to attend and celebrate their son’s marriage on Friday night as he began this new chapter in his life,” said Maddison Stone, Thompson’s press secretary, in an email to USA TODAY.

She added that the Thompson’s are “very happy” to welcome their new son-in-law “into their family.”
