‘How Many MPs Have No Confidence in Boris Johnson?’

Boris Johnson is resorting to desperate tactics in his battle to stay in Downing Street. But it’s those in his own party who have the power to oust the Prime Minister.

It was Christian Wakeford who first publicly withdrew his support from the Prime Minister in a dramatic moment when he crossed the house and defected to Labour.

And since then several more Tory MPs have publicly turned on Johnson too. Three submitted calls for a vote of no confidence on Wednesday.

Several more have called for Johnson to go. But have not formally declared that they’ve written letters.

Conservative MPs’ backs are up over the mountain of emails from exasperated constituents who are furious about the Prime Minister’s actions. And they’ve grown tired of apologising on his behalf. Their leader shows no sign of resigning.

But he’ll face another moment of reckoning when the Met Police concludes its investigation.
