My new studio space has a lot of echo and to remove that I needed to make bunch of acoustic panels. I needed something cheap and decent looking for low price so I can get the studio operational fast. I can make better looking and more panels later to improve the space further.
I started by cutting frames from boards. I used very rough boards which to keep the cost at under $10 per panel. I made simple frames to fit a sheet of mineral wool. For the back of the frame I used cheap fabric that only serves the purpose of keeping the wool inside the frame. The fabric was stapled to the wood Next the wool was inserted. Then I used better looking fabric for the front. That was stapled of as well and trimmed from the back with scissors.
The panels should be mounted on walls so that they block the sound waves from bouncing, so at minimum you want some panels on 2 walls and to the ceiling, or you need thick carpets tahat do the same. When installed like this the waves can’t bounce back and forth anymore. But if possible you want to cover all walls. Also having a door open van easily cause lots of echo as well.
PS: I noticed that USA has much more expensive mineral wool maybe I’m looking from wrong place, or wrong brands but the price on my video is normal price here locally.
