Iceberg A-68 has calved off the Larsen-C Ice Shelf in July 2017, broke into the main iceberg A-68A and the smaller iceberg A-68B and was pushed into the Weddell Sea. Over the past weeks, the A-68A iceberg has drifted close to South Georgia. On 17 December 2020, a large block of ice was observed to have broken off. The smaller iceberg is around 18 km long and approximately 140 sq km
