India: Country's 'tallest man' joins Samajwadi Party on campaign trail for Uttar Pradesh elections

India’s self-claimed ‘tallest man,’ the 8 feet 1 inch tall (2.4 metres) Dharmendra Pratap Singh, joined the Samajwadi Party on the campaign trail for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, in Lucknow, on Friday.

Singh was seen talking to people on the streets, who were impressed by his height and distributing leaflets of the Samajwadi Party, which he joined on January 23.

Singh told people he joined the party to serve the people of Uttar Pradesh state.

“The purpose of joining politics and coming to this party is to serve the people of this state, and the party I joined is working for the development of this state. I am very much impressed and inspired by the works of our party leader Akhilesh Yadav and his thoughts and vision for this state. I am with him and want to serve with him, so I joined the Samajwadi Party,” said Singh.

Party candidates were happy that Singh campaigned with them as he was attracting voters’ attention.

“It’s very unique. Like this, there are eight wonders in the world. Now we have Dharmendra Ji. There are many who are coming and talking to him and asking questions seeing his look. It’s helping the party and the campaign,” said Bhataravchand Yadav, a party candidate.

The state of Uttar Pradesh, is the most populous state in India, with a population of over 200 million people.
