India: Streets submerged as Kolkata hit by flooding

A mix of heavy rainfall and discharge from dams has led to flooding in Kolkata on Thursday.

Footage shows a submerged street in the South Dum Dum district of the city.

According to the forecast provided by the UK’s Met Office, heavy showers can be expected by Kolkata’s residents over the weekend.

Traffic has been disrupted as a result of the flooding in the city, which began earlier this week.
