‘Indian Kashmir Bus Crash: At Least 37 Killed After Himalayan Accident’.

At least 37 people have died after a bus slid off a steep Himalayan highway in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Wednesday.

The bus was on its way to the southern Jammu city from Kishtwar town when it veered off the road, falling about 660 feet onto an older road.

Residents and authorities rushed to the scene as a critical rescue operation was launched.

14 people who were injured in the crash were taken to nearby health facilities, according to officials.

At least four others reportedly in a critical condition have been transported to hospitals in Jammu.

The exact cause of the crash is not immediately known but police say the bus was overcrowded and speeding.

India has some of the highest road death rates in the world, with hundreds of thousands of people killed and injured annually.

A formal investigation into the crash is now underway.
