Residents of the Lumajang district, Java, were seen resting at a temporary shelter on Saturday, following the eruption of the nearby Mount Semeru volcano.

One person has died due to severe burns caused by the eruption, with a further 42 hospitalised and severals till missing, according to local authorities.

Mount Semeru is Indonesia’s highest volcano, whilst Java is the country’s most densely populated island.
