Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh rejected as ‘false’ Israel’s accusation that Iran was responsible for the recent deadly attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, on Sunday.

Speaking from the Iranian capital, Khatibzadeh said that it was not the first time Israel “made such accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

“Wherever this regime has gone, it has brought insecurity, terror, and violence, and those who provided the conditions for the occupying regime of Jerusalem to enter the region are responsible for the current situation,” he added.

The Israeli-managed petroleum product tanker, named the Mercer Street, was attacked off the coast of Oman on Thursday, killing two crew members.

Israel described the attack as ‘Iranian terrorism.’

SOT, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Farsi): “These statements are definitely condemned. The occupying regime in Jerusalem must know that these projections will not resolve its problems. Whoever tries to strike a blow will face a bigger blow. The Islamic Republic of Iran does not hesitate for a moment to protect the supreme interests of the people and its own national security.”

SOT, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Farsi): “The illegitimate occupying regime of Jerusalem must stop these false accusations. This is not the first time that the occupying regime in Jerusalem has made such accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Wherever this regime has gone, it has brought insecurity, terror, and violence, and those who provided the conditions for the occupying regime of Jerusalem to enter the region are responsible for the current situation.”

SOT, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Farsi): “The US government should note that it has definite responsibilities for hosting the UN headquarters in New York. Accordingly, regardless of its differences with other countries, it has clear responsibilities and it must act within the same framework. But this is not a strange thing. The well-known anti-Iranian lobby in the United States is taking every opportunity to make false accusations against the Islamic Republic, which it has done in the past.”

SOT, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson (Farsi): “The American side, unfortunately, at the last moment, with a misunderstanding of the developments that are happening inside Iran, seems to have violated all its obligations once again. If it had fulfilled its commitments and agreements, Iranians would be free today. Unfortunately, we have seen this violation of the agreements by the United States several times. And these are reasons why, by no means, we have ever had any trust-based talks with the United States from day one until today. Every day we have more reasons to pursue all conversations, even those that are indirect, with the utmost distrust in the American side. Because they showed how unreliable they are.”

SOT, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson (Farsi): “The Iraqi president’s visit to Iran is planned. Most likely, he will come to Iran for the inauguration ceremony, and this trip is bilateral in this context. And of course, in addition to him, several dozen delegations from other countries are going to visit Iran for the inauguration of Mr. Raisi.”
