Protesters waved Israeli flags as they marched in the mixed Arab-Jewish city of Lod, on Sunday.
Participants said they were there to show support for the experience of the Jewish population last May, during the Israeli military operation against Hamas in Gaza. One protester named Itamar Ben Gvir said, “I came to strengthen the local residents that suffer attacks and live in an insane reality in the heart of the country of Israel.”
Participants also celebrated the final night of the Jewish Hannukah celebration.
The march stuck to the main part of the city and did not go through mixed Jewish and Arab neighbourhoods. No incidents were reported.

We are staying here, it’s our home, it’s our county, if you don’t like it, go away from here.”

SOT, MK Simcha Rotman, Protester, (Hebrew): “Whoever thinks that Israeli flags inside the State of Israel is a provocation, I feel bad for them. This discussion shows cowardliness, that has no place all along the year and specificity at the time of Hanukkah, in which we collaborate the victory of the light over darkness.”
SOT, MK Simcha Rotman, Protester, (Hebrew): “I came to strengthen the people, I moved with my family to Lod a few months ago. The people who were here during the May events are still afraid to walk in the streets.”
SOT, MK Simcha Rotman, Protester, (Hebrew): “I think that the flag march, with people from Lod and from outside is strengthening the residents of Lod, Ramle and the other mixed cities.”
