‘Israel Reportedly Behind MINE ATTACK on Iran Revolutionary Guard ‘Spy Ship’

An Iranian cargo ship allegedly used by the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard has been attacked.

The MV Saviz has been anchored off Yemen’s Red Sea coast for years.

Iran claims it is there to combat piracy, but many suspect the vessel is actually a military base.

Iran’s semiofficial Tasnim news agency reported that a mine planted on Saviz’s hull caused the blast.

An Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said the explosion caused only “minor damage”.

The New York Times reported that Israel had told the US it attacked the ship.

But so far, Iran has not blamed anyone for the attack.

The heightened tensions could complicate diplomatic discussions between the US and Iran.

The two sides are in Vienna discussing a revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, which saw Tehran receive relief from sanctions in exchange for limiting its enrichment of uranium.
