Roscosmos cosmonauts and members of the ISS-66 expedition Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov wished earthlings a Happy New Year from space on Friday.

Commander Anton Shkaplerov wished to experience the magic of New Year’s Eve and to said kind words to those who are waiting for them.

Flight engineer Dubrov told how the New Year is celebrated at the station and wished happiness to Russians and the whole world.

“We wish the new 2022 year brought health resilience, prosperity and new achievements. Be friendly and happy. Happy new year!”, summed up the flight engineer.

The ISS-66 mission will last 162 days and terminate on March 28, 2022.

The end of the expedition will coincide with the completion of the one-year flight to the ISS of flight engineers Petr Dubrov (Russia) and Mark Vande Hay (USA). Their flight will be the longest since the ISS began operation.

SOT, Anton Shkaplerov, ISS-66 expedition commander (Russian): “There are the last moments of the outgoing year 2021. We on the ISS and you on Earth are united by the magical feeling of New Year’s Eve. It is about to begin for many people, and families, relatives and friends will gather around the New Year’s table. Our fellow astronauts and we will also be gathering around the improvised New Year’s table very soon.”

Petr Dubrov, flight engineer of ISS-66 (Russian): “We are going to have a truly New Year’s table but without sparkling wine. Yes, prohibition is in effect at the station. But other conditions, including menu, are close to Earth’s, and it is very nice on such a holiday”.

Anton Shkaplerov: “Friends, in the last hours of the year we want you all to have time to experience the magic of New Year eve and to say kind words to those who are waiting for them”.

Peter Dubrov: “And we wish the new 2022 year brought health, resilience, prosperity and new achievements. Be friendly and happy. Happy new year!”
