Italy: '30 years of blah, blah, blah' - Greta Thunberg condemns world leaders over climate inaction

Climate activist Greta Thunberg criticised world leaders for their ‘empty promises’ and condemned them over inaction in the fight against climate change during the Youth4Climate summit in Milan on Tuesday.

“Build back better. Blah, blah, blah. Green economy. Blah, blah, blah. Net-zero by 2050. Blah, blah, blah,” said Greta, referring to quotes famously pronounced by many world leaders.

“Leaders have now 30 years of blah, blah blah, and where has that led us?” added the young climate activist.

Greta’s speech comes just over a month before the start of this year’s COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, where the countries responsible for the world’s biggest polluting emissions are meeting to set tougher commitments to cut greenhouse gas emissions to keep the 1.5C target within reach.

According to the young climate activist, constructive dialogue is still necessary, yet she stressed the urgent need for world leaders to do more.
