Italy: Alleged kidnap of boy who survived cable car crash under investigation

The public prosecutor’s office of Pavia has launched an investigation into the alleged abduction of a six-year-old boy who survived a recent deadly cable car crash disaster in Mottarone, Italy.

The lawyer of the boy’s aunt could be seen leaving Pavia’s courthouse on Monday, as Eitan’s paternal family is appealing against the decision of the court to appoint his aunt, Aya Biran, as the child’s legal guardian.
The boy was taken to Israel last Saturday by his grandfather, who reportedly picked Eitan up from his Aunt’s home in Travaco Siccomario (seen in the footage) for a meeting authorised by the judiciary.
Since Eitan Biran’s parents died in the Mottarone cable car crash on 23 May, he has been at the centre of a family custody battle between relatives in Israel and Italy.
