Italy: Coast Guard rescues 125 refugees stranded off Lampedusa

Under rough weather conditions, Italian coast guard ships approached and rescued a group of 125 stranded refugees near Lampedusa on Thursday.
In the morning hours, coast guard vessels found people along a cliff near the island of Conigli, thanks to spotlights. Rescue personnel swam over to them and brought the people on board the ships. Previously, the refugees had been on boats that had sunk midway.
Lampedusa Coast Guard patrol boats rescued all the migrants, including 49 women and 20 minors who appeared to be in a state of shock.
