A day before the end of the Olympic Games, a small group of 20 Tokyo protesters rallied against the Olympic Committee’s eviction of homeless people from a public park, as seen on Saturday.

Groups of people carrying anti-Olympic placards gathered outside the Yoyogi national stadium using megaphones to draw the public’s attention to the problem.

“The homeless people, who were evicted from that place have no alternatives,” said an activist at the protest.

SOUNDBITES:

SOT, Protester: “We are here to protest against the eviction towards homeless people for the Olympics, talking about this place. This place is Yoyogi Park. Also, I see evicted homeless people sleeping at a public park. Now the place is shut off and occupied by Olympics and is used by Olympic as a parking lot.”

SOT, Protester: “The homeless people who were evicted from that place have no alternatives. The OCOG (Organising Committees for the Olympic Games) does not offer them any alternative.”
