In a thrilling performance, team USA managed to secure the silver medal in the first-ever Olympics mixed triathlon relay in Tokyo on Saturday.

Morgan Pearson, Katie Zaferes, Kevin McDowell and Taylor Knibb finished 14 seconds behind Great Britain, who grabbed gold. The French quartet took bronze crossing the finish line nine seconds after the Americans.

During the briefing, held at the Tokyo 2020 Main Press Center, silver medalists of the mixed relay shared their feelings after winning medals in the inaugural competition. Katie Zaferes and her teammates also spoke on ways of coping with pressure and stress as well as preserving mental health in important competitions like the Olympic Games. The US athletes also gave their assessment of what an extra pandemic year gave them in terms of preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.
