Journalist Arrested After Clashes Break Out at Far-Right ‘Proud Boys’ Rally

Officials in Kalamazoo have apologised for the arrest of a black reporter who was covering a Proud Boys rally and counter-protests on Saturday.

MLive reporter Samuel Robinson was covering the far-right group’s rally in Western Michigan and posting updates on social media most of the day.

Fights between the two groups at the event erupted before police ordered the crowds to disperse.

Police officials have confirmed a number of arrests were made.

Proud Boys have been described as ‘extremists’ and a ‘hate group’ but the male-only organisation disputes those descriptions.
