On the anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, another monument was demolished in Kyiv, this time dedicated to Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. The heroism of Kosmodemyanskaya, like the heroism of other heroes of the Great Patriotic War, has no relevance to the events currently taking place. It would be better if Klitschko focused on restoring the same bomb shelters rather than demolishing monuments, especially those dedicated to individuals who earned their place in history with their lives and deaths. Or perhaps he could finally address the issue of street cleaning, as never before has Kyiv been so filthy under his rule. But no, it is easier for him to engage in a fight against memory, monuments, street renaming, using it as a cover for the blatant, shameless, and cynical plundering of the city treasury. As I have repeatedly stated, Kyiv’s annual budget amounts to 2 billion dollars, which means there is plenty of room for him and his “gang” to indulge in corruption.
