After a few years of being removed from fitness, Ahlam Mohammad Ali grew into a state of depression. She then realised it was OK to do what she loved the most without harming her faith, and now became an inspiration to millions around the world.
As a devoted Muslim woman, she wears some of the traditional attire such as a hijab and Nikab covering her face and head on a regular basis, even when working out, as seen in a gym in Houston, Texas, on Thursday.
“You can still live your life to please God, but you can still also do things that you enjoy doing, which for me is fitness. I wanted to show that me wearing the niqab and the hijab and lose clothing is not stopping me or limiting me. It’s not making me feel ashamed to represent myself as a Muslim woman and to put myself out there in a good way,” Ahlam said.
“It is very rare that you see a Niqabi woman in the gym, just because the idea behind it is when a Muslim woman covers properly, she is not supposed to draw your attention to herself,” she added.
Ahlem shows her workout sessions on TikTok, where some of her videos reach millions of views. With the eyes now on her, she has plans to grow her clothing business. “I want to develop a line shows Muslim woman that you can dress modestly for the sake of God but you can also be active and dress modestly for the sake of God as well. I will defiantly make it more suitable for women in the fitness world.”
“I am a Muslim woman and yes, I choose to cover for God, but I’m also choosing to do what makes me happy, and hopefully God sees that as well and other Muslim women around the world see that as well,” she concluded.
SOT, Ahlam Mohammad Ali, TikTok celebrity and entrepreneur: “My background is that I was born in Jordan, but then I came here to the States when I was only nine months old. I always had a passion for fitness. Me and my dad definitely love martial arts. The first thing I did was end up doing Taekwando.”
SOT, Ahlam Mohammad Ali, TikTok celebrity and entrepreneur: “It is very rare that you see a Niqabi woman in the gym, just because the idea behind it is when a Muslim woman covers properly, she is not supposed to draw your attention to herself.”
SOT, Ahlam Mohammad Ali, TikTok celebrity and entrepreneur: “My whole message behind that is just to inspire women who do wear the hijab and the niqab, or the jilbab, that you can still live your life to please God, but you can still do things that you enjoy doing, which for me is fitness, and I wanted to show that, to me wearing the niqab, wearing the hijab and lose clothing is not stopping me, it’s not limiting me, it’s not making me feel ashamed to represent myself as a Muslim woman and to put myself out there in good way. I hope guys see that my intentions are for the right reasons and not for anything else, and just to inspire woman that, I am a Muslim woman and yes, I choose to cover for God, but I’m also choosing to do what makes me happy, and hopefully God sees that as well and other Muslim women around the world see that as well.”
SOT, Ahlam Mohammad Ali, TikTok celebrity and entrepreneur: “So, definitely with the niqab, because of the feedback that I have been getting from all over the world and the attention that I have been receiving, I am definitely going to contribute that into my business and into and develop a line that shows Muslim women that you can dress modestly for the sake of God, but you also can be active and dress modestly for the sake of God as well. I will definitely make its more suitable to women in the fitness world and just provide different alternatives and different styles that will best fit everyone’s needs in the aspect of working out with the niqab.”
SOT, Ahlam Mohammad Ali, TikTok celebrity and entrepreneur: “Wearing a niqab on social media and posting my workout videos with the niqab was just to show Muslim women that even me, covering my face as I said before, is not stopping or limiting me. And gives that extra motivation and push for Muslim woman who feel shy.”
