The Ukrainian capital of Kyiv is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s primary target.

For weeks the city has been preparing for an attack that has been rumbling ever closer to this makeshift fortress.

As Russian troops begin to circle 25 km away, the streets of Kyiv are guarded day and night by Ukraine’s Territorial defence.

Hundreds of checkpoints have been built and both soldiers and volunteers are getting ready for the worst.
