Kyrgyzstan Election: Protesters Storm Parliament over Vote-Rigging Allegations

Footage has emerged showing protesters storming a parliament building following widespread chaos over allegations of vote-rigging in last Sunday’s election in Kyrgyzstan.

Following the vote, only four parties passed a 7% threshold for entry into parliament, three of those parties are closely allied to the sitting president, Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

Kyrgyzstan’s prime minister has resigned and the country’s electoral body has annulled the results of the election.

Health officials said one person died and nearly 600 were injured during the post-election protests.
