Leeds United fans ignored social-distancing rules to celebrate their team’s promotion to the Premier League.

Thousands of people gathered around Millennium Square in Leeds city centre, following a 3-1 win over Derby County.

The packed crowd partied hard despite the club’s owner urging people to celebrate safely.

But they also left behind a complete mess, with council workers having to clear streets completely covered in rubbish and bottles.

According to local media, several police officers were injured and nine people were arrested for public order offences.
