The European Parliament is holding a plenary session to discuss a legal dispute between Poland and the European Union in Strasbourg on Tuesday, October 19.

Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is set to address the European Parliament during the session.

Poland’s opposition parties sparked concern of a potential ‘Polexit’ scenario following a ruling by Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal last week, which challenged whether Poland should accept full oversight from the EU’s courts. The ruling deemed aspects of EU law as infringing on Poland’s constitution.

Thousands attended protests throughout Poland against a potential ‘Polexit’ scenario and the ongoing crisis on October 8, following an appeal made by opposition leader Donald Tusk.
