French President Emmanuel Macron welcomes the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen for a working dinner in presence of the French government at the Elysee palace on Thursday, January 6, as the six-month French presidency of the European Union begins.
France took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union from Slovenia, for the first six months of 2022.
Ahead of assuming the presidency, Macron said that France would work in order to apply a programme for a more ‘powerful’ and ‘sovereign’ Europe.
