LIVE: Merkel and Ghebreyesus inaugurate WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus inaugurate the new World Health Organization (WHO) Hub for pandemic and epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, on Wednesday, September 1.

The aim of the entity, in partnership with Charité, is to bring together partners worldwide to collaborate, identify and prevent future pandemic outbreaks at an early stage.
German Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn, Major of Berlin Michael Müller and WHO Health Emergencies Program Director Michael J. Ryan are set to attend the opening among others.
Merkel is also expected to be recognised by the WHO for her commitment to global health.
