The UN Security Council convenes virtually on Monday, August 9, to discuss the question of international maritime security.

The debate will take place under the theme ‘Enhancing maritime security: a case for international cooperation” with the goal of providing a platform for the UN and member states to develop plans of action in extraordinary maritime situations.

The meeting will be chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin via videolink.
