LIVE: Peru’s President-Elect Pedro Castillo to be sworn-in during ceremony ​

On the day of the bicentennial anniversary of the independence of Peru, President-elect Pedro Castillo is sworn-in before Congress in Lima on Wednesday, July 29, in a solemn session that will mark the beginning of the presidency of the Republic for the period 2021-2026.

President of Bolivia Luis Arce​, President of Argentina Alberto Fernández, King Felipe VI of Spain, President of Ecuador Guillermo Lasso are among numerous invitees that are expected to participate at the ceremony.​​

Castillo won the 6th June run-off elections against Keiko Fujimori, who finally recognised the result after trying to delay the official announcement with fraud accusations over several ballots.
