LIVE: Scholz and Bennett hold joint press conference in Jerusalem

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett are holding a joint press conference in Jerusalem on Wednesday, March 2. 

Scholz arrived on a short visit to Israel on Wednesday morning, amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis. He’s expected to meet with the Knesset speaker, Mickey Levy and visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s official Holocaust memorial, with PM Bennett. 

On Sunday, the chancellor announced tighter sanctions against Russia, including the exclusion of important government-related Russian banks from the SWIFT system. Mandatory credit: GPO
