The lockdowns brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic have helped widen the gender gap in the workplace. Women make up about 40 percent of global employment. But since the pandemic, women account for 54 percent of the total job losses thus far. This trend is being dubbed a “shecession.” Stephen Meade, CEO of MonetaPro, and Desi Robinson, a doctoral student in health education and behavioral studies at Columbia University and a health/lifestyle journalist, discuss.
