A Long March-2C launch vehicle launched the Huanjing-2 05 satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, Shanxi Province, China, on 12 October 2022, at 22:53 UTC (13 October, at 06:53 local time). According to official sources, the satellite has entered the preset orbit. The Huanjing-2 05 (环境减灾二号05) satellite, also know as S-SAR-01, is designed to collect 5-metre resolution S-band radar image data and will “support disaster prevention, reduction, relief, and environmental protection”.
