A three-story building in Brooklyn, New York, suddenly collapsed on Wednesday afternoon, sending debris hurling onto surrounding sidewalks and forcing pedestrians to run for their lives.

Footage captured moments after the incident on Court Street in Carroll Gardens shows a cloud of smoke rising from the scene of the collapse.

A man was reportedly on the second floor of the building when it collapsed but somehow managed to escape with only minor injuries. FDNY crews said they couldn’t confirm that no passers-by were trapped by falling rubble.

The building has reportedly housed a gym for decades, which was luckily closed to the public due to the pandemic.
