At least 20 people have died and 49 hospitalised after a metro overpass collapsed in Mexico City.

Several train carriages plunged toward a busy boulevard below, crushing at least one car.

Dramatic footage has emerged appearing to show the collapse on the metro’s Line 12.

Rescue workers and firefighters are still searching for survivors.

There are fears some may still be trapped and that the death toll could rise further.

Line 12’s construction has been plagued with complaints since it officially opened in 2012.

Locals reported cracks in the structure after a deadly 2017 earthquake.
