Mexico: Govt authorities launch Action Plan of Bicentennial Understanding with US

A meeting between representatives of the governments of Mexico and the United States to unveil the Bicentennial Understanding Action Plan was held in Mexico City, on Monday.

The Bicentennial Understanding Action Plan has been established to improve coordination between Mexico and the US in combating drug trafficking, human trafficking, and arms trafficking.

“[There is] common political will that is based on respect and reciprocity of the Bicentennial Understanding. Three objectives: protecting our people, preventing cross-border crime, and pursuing criminal networks, 101 actions with a timetable to carry them out, a verifiable commitment and we are going to have permanent communication on what we are advancing today,” said Mexico’s Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard.

The meeting was attended by members of the various US agencies, as well as the Mexican army, navy, and the Mexican Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection.
