Mourners laid flowers at a vigil for slain crime journalist Peter de Vries, in Amsterdam on Thursday, after he succumbed to his injuries in a hospital, two days after being shot multiple times.

De Vries was a police informer who was known for his investigation into organised crime, and was shot despite being under police protection.

So far, the police have arrested three people, with one thought to have been the perpetrator.
