A series of explosions at Aden airport in Yemen have left at least 20 people dead and scores more injured, according to local officials.

Hundreds of panicked onlookers were sent scrambling for safety by multiple blasts.

According to local media, the airport terminal building was hit by gunfire, mortars and drones.

It happened as Yemen’s newly appointed government arrived in the city by plane from Saudi Arabia.

The authorities believe Iran-backed Houthi rebels were behind the deadly attack. Yemen faces the world’s worst humanitarian crisis with a civil war raging since 2015.
