Mural of Spurs chief Gregg Popovich adorns Belgrade basketball court

In the heart of Belgrade, former basketball player Zarko Paspalj has commissioned a mural of Gregg Popovich, the American professional basketball coach and executive who is also president and head coach of the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association.
Zarko Paspalj was a Serbian professional basketball player and sports administrator who is now retired. The former player was the MVP of the 1994 Euroleague Final Four, and his sixteen and a half-season career spanned primarily in Yugoslavia and Greece, along with several brief periods in the NBA in France and Italy.
During his time in the NBA, he and Gregg became very good friends. The mural is being painted on the wall of a building in a community garden near Zarko’s home, which he has redecorated and renovated over the past two years, including the construction of a basketball court now used by residents and neighbours of the community
