Voters head to the polls for Norway’s parliamentary elections, as seen in Oslo on Sunday, unseating the Conservative Party after eight years in power.
Throughout the campaign, issues of climate change and Norway’s heavy reliance on the oil industry played a major role in debates. Voters in Oslo on Sunday too, cared deeply about these issues and felt it contributed to their voting decision.
“Some parties have changed their politics when it comes to the subject and some still haven’t and are left behind in that era so I think it’s, it’s a few of the parties that have really stepped up the last few years actually,” said voter, Oda Amalie Kise Hjertstrom.
The Conservative Prime Minister Erna Solberg conceded the election as results came in during the evening.
Labour Party leader and probable future Prime Minster Jonas Gahr Stoere now faces the task of forming a coalition government to meet the 85 seat requirement to achieve a majority in the 169-seat parliament. Parties likely to enter the coalition include Centre Party and Socialist Left.

SOT, Ane Emilie Bolstad, Voter : “There has to be changes in how we do things. We have to change our ways in how we search after oil. We have to do other things than go after oil.”

SOT, Ane Emilie Bolstad, Voter: “I have voted for a party that wants to do better from now on.”

SOT, Oda Amalie Kise Hjertstrom, Voter: “For me the climate case is like the most important thing in this election actually. I think it may have affected how I voted today. Some parties have changed their politics when it comes to the subject and some still haven’t and are left behind in that era so I think it’s, it’s a few of the parties that have really stepped up the last few years actually.”
