Pakistan: 12 killed, nine injured in Karachi Independence Day bomb

12 people were killed and at least nine injured when a bomb exploded in Karachi on Saturday.

According to local reports, a grenade exploded inside a pick-up truck in the city’s Mawach Goth district.

The deceased and the injured, who all belonged to the same family, were returning from a wedding ceremony when the blast happened.

The latest incident comes as the country was celebrating its 75th Independence Day as Pakistan was declared a sovereign state following the end of British rule in the Indian subcontinent in 1947.
