The Bab-e-Dosti border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan reopened on Friday following a seven day closure.

According to Pakistani officials, the border was closed from the Afghan side after a failure by their authorities to remove obstacles at the Bab-e-Dosti gate.

Many Afghans fled to neighbouring Pakistan after the Taliban took control of Spin Boldak, a city in Kandahar province which borders Pakistan.

SOT, Afghan refugee (Pashto): “We are happy that the path was opened. We had been stuck for days. ” *LOOSE TRANSLATION*

SOT, Afghan refugee (Pashto): “We’ve been stuck for the last seven days. On the other hand, we were humiliated in Pakistan. There was also violence yesterday. We are poor people, we can’t do anything. Whatever happened, that is what happened. The border has just been opened. That’s the decent thing to do, and it should end there. We are very happy.”
