Palestinian PM Breaks Down In Tears As He Recounts Children Killed in Gaza

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh cried while reviewing the conditions of the people in Gaza during his opening speech at the Palestinian cabinet meeting on Tuesday in the West Bank city of Ramallah

Shtayyeh referred in the meeting to what was reported about Israel’s Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Minister Amihai Eliyahu who said on Sunday that dropping a nuclear weapon on the Gaza Strip is “an option.”

Eliyahu, a junior government minister, suggested in a radio interview that Israel could drop an atomic bomb on Gaza.

He later called the remarks “metaphorical.”

“This bloodthirsty person wants to kill for the purpose of killing.” Shtayyeh said

Netanyahu suspended Eliyahu from cabinet meetings, a move with no practical effect.

Shtayyeh called on the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant against “the criminals as a precautionary step in order to stop the killing machine.”

The conflict has now reached the one-month mark since Hamas militants launched their deadly attack on Israel on October 7th.

At least 1,400 people have been killed in Israel and an estimated 242 hostages have been taken into Gaza by militants.

In Gaza, the death toll has exceeded 10,000, with over 4,100 of those being children, according to the latest figures by the Palestinian health ministry.

On Monday, the UN chief warned that Gaza is becoming a ‘graveyard for children’.

It’s also led to the heads of major UN humanitarian organisations to issue a rare joint statement calling for an immediate ceasefire.
