Bikers, riders and, classical car owners organised a parade to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the Turkish Republic in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul on Friday.
This year’s celebration has been the first since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, which saw most events in Turkey cancelled due to health reasons.
“In the previous years, we had parades and celebrations, but with the effect of the pandemic, it was not as crowded and enthusiastic as this year. It’s good to see we’re back to our old days,” said classic car owner Hakan.
Republic Day is a public holiday in Turkey that commemorates the proclamation of the Republic on 29 October 1923. Traditionally, celebrations start in the afternoon on October 28th and continue for 35 hours.
