This moment comes from 2013 in the Gulf of Mexico when our Corps of Exploration were examining ecosystem-level responses to oil and gas alongside the ECOGIG Consortium. This octopus saunters past ROV Hercules, giving us a beautiful performance of how it moves along and above the ocean floor. With their round head and eight arms covered in suckers, these invertebrates are some of the most distinctive creatures in the deep sea and this one definitely does not disappoint.
