Shoppers came in droves to the opening of the biggest Ikea store in the world, which opened on Wednesday in Pasay.
A drum performance welcomed customers as they entered the store, before excitedly making their way through the furniture displays.
The store has five storeys, which cover an area of 68,000 square meters. Two of the five floors hold a stock of 8,000 articles available in the store. In the store itself, over 9,000 products are on display.
Shoppers were required to adhere to strict COVID-19 guidelines, which included wearing masks when entering the building and booking slots prior to attending.
The development of the Swedish furniture shop in Manila Bay was part of a huge global push for the Swedish furniture brand, who are hoping to serve the country’s growing middle-class.
The project was delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
