Pig saved from slaughterhouse becomes world famous painter

I always dreamed about rescuing some farmed animals from the horrific factory farming practices that exist around the world today for farmed animals. I went to a local hog farm. It was not a nice place, in this overcrowded industrialized shed were hundreds and hundreds of pigs. I was fortunate enough to take one of these little piglets out of this environment. When she arrived in the barn, she was tiny, she could fit into a shoe box. 

Pigs are very smart, intelligent animals. In order to keep her entertained, I gave her some soccer balls,  tennis balls and things, she literally ate and destroyed everything except the paint brushes. And I thought,  that’s quite interesting. It didn’t take long before she was picking up these brushes, dipping them in paints dancing this brush, across a canvas that was placed in her stall. She is now four and a half years old. She’s 800 kilos, which is over a thousand pounds and she sells her artworks for thousands of dollars all over the world. Her biggest fan is Jane Goodall 

Pigcasso is like a quarterback here at farm sanctuary. The sale of our artworks go towards the workers, the farm animal rescue, the educational programs. She’s also the boss at the sanctuary. If she doesn’t want to paint, she doesn’t have to paint. If she paints, we have to get ready for her to paint. When she’s not painting, she is lying in the mud or eating as she likes to paint in the morning hours very early. And I would say she calls, uh, farm sanctuary essay, hog heaven. I think she loves her life and is happy to be alive here. Picasso is just a fabulous fat, famous painting pig, that’s inspiring people to think differently about art, to think differently about farm animals and to think differently about the food they eat, and the consequences of what people eat and the effects of it on one’s health, on farm animals and the environment, and ultimately to inspire people to build and create a kind of more sustainable planet for all beings.
