The scandal surrounding the closed bomb shelters and the loss of lives swiftly shifted into the realm of politics. The lives of innocent people have been exploited by political charlatans in their fight against their opponents. I’m certainly not a supporter of Klitschko, arguably the worst mayor the capital has ever seen. However, he is right when he stated that there can be no grievances against him if the budgets allocated for shelter reconstruction are being controlled by district administrators directly appointed by the presidential office. Those who have pulled the “blanket” onto themselves bear the responsibility. The president must understand that by assuming all possible powers, he automatically becomes the scapegoat for everything. Essentially, Zelensky is making the same mistake as his two predecessors. And, just like with his predecessors, the country under the president’s rule is increasingly showing signs of fractures.
