The Nazare tow-in surfing challenge began for the 2021-2022 season in the Portuguese coastal town on Monday.

Following an initial postponement due to fog, the competition kicked off with nine teams of two in contention on the Praia do Norte spot.

Each duo must surf two sets of 50 minutes.

Justine Dupont and Pierre Rollet are set to form a team.

Four prizes will be awarded at the end of the day, based on performance.

SOT, Surfer (Spanish): “This is in honour of Oscar Johns the legend that is Oscar Johns. We are missing him here in the line down, he will be watching us from Australia so we send him a big greeting and yes this goes for the legend.”

SOT, Surfer (Spanish): “And also thank all the surfboard, all the staff and all the people of Nazare of course, and a greeting to all the people of the Basque country.”
