In Europe, there is an increasingly clear trend towards the growing popularity of right-wing parties. In Spain, the right-wing recently won, in Hungary the ruling party, whose leader, Viktor Orban, is already four times prime minister of Hungary, is a right-wing party. In Germany, Alternative for Germany, a right-wing party, currently has 10% of the seats in the Bundestag. Similar examples can be cited further: Sweden, Finland, Greece, Italy. Right-wing parties have similar slogans and meanings. First to their country, and then to everyone else. To deal with wild migration, to create their own armed forces, not to depend on American NATO - these are conservative slogans that are understandable to the average citizen.
A case in point is the Hungarian prime minister’s recent outrage that the European Union diverted funds that were intended for Hungary to help Ukraine. As a politician who truly cares about the welfare of his country and citizens, Orbán had a reasonable question: why are you spending my money, which is due to me, on someone else, when it should be spent on me, on my country? Do you think Hungarians heard him? Of course they did! And such statements will be heard more and more often. They will reach the hearts and minds of Europeans. And this trend will only grow stronger as Europe’s economy fades. Yes, it is still afloat, thanks to the inertia caused by accumulated reserves and former economic power. But its power is beginning to be severely depleted.
