A newborn two-toed sloth was seen adorably snacking in its enclosure at Halle Zoo, Saxony-Anhalt on Friday.

One zookeeper could be seen feeding snacks to the tiny new arrival in its enclosure, which was shared with parents Charlotte and Toni.

“The little one was born on December 15 last year, quite unexpectedly. We didn’t really expect it,” said the keeper.

The zookeeper went on to explain that the gender of the sloth is not yet known, and will require a ‘genetic analysis’ to be determined, which could take over half a year.

In 2019 the zoo gained fame for housing the oldest two-toed sloth in the world, Paula, who entered the Guinness Book of Records aged 50.
